Newton Medical Center EMS is a full service, hospital-based advanced life support system proudly serving all of Newton County. We receive over 10,000 calls per year and operate 5 full time ALS units covering
278 square miles and a population of over 80,000 citizens. The Department is operated as a component of Newton Medical Center and is staffed by Paramedics and EMT’s on 24 hour shifts.

Our EMS personnel are an integral part of the public safety team.  We interact in virtually all 911 calls through the county communications center. The staff in the EMS Department are committed to providing the best possible pre-hospital care available to this community. 

We utilize a complete assortment of up-to-date tools and equipment in an effort to both ease suffering and increase survival rates among our citizens. We average an 11% cardiac arrest discharge rate in ‘09.

We are proud of our innovative efforts to run an efficient EMS system within the vision of the public safety environment. We respond with the Newton County Fire Department as well as the City of Covington Fire Department.

Newton Medical Center EMS is actively engaged in our community through public relations events and outreach programs.

Newton EMS is also supported by Emory Flight / Rescue Air for those urgent cases that require air transportation. We are pleased to have an excellent working relationship with law enforcement and the county emergency
management agency. Our EMS units are strategically placed at the hospital and county fire stations.
